I’m Matt Pakucko, a producer, music mixer, engineer, songwriter, and owner of Mix City Music Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
Most artists go looking for a studio. I get that. A great room, great gear, and a comfortable place to work all matter. But the studio is still only a tool. The real difference is the person helping you make decisions about the song, performance, production, arrangement, and mix.
That work can happen at Mix City Music, in your own studie, in another studio, remotely, or before you ever step into a room. The point is not just where the music gets recorded. The point is whether the record actually works.
More than a recording studio
Everybody has access to recording tools now. That does not mean everybody can make a record that feels undeniable.
That requires experience, planning, taste, judgment, honesty, and the ability to hear what the music actually needs.
Sometimes the song is already there and just needs to be captured properly. Sometimes the vocal needs direction. Sometimes the arrangement is fighting the hook. Sometimes the production sounds good, but the record still does not feel finished.
That is where experience matters.
Your song is personal. The record still has to work.
I understand how protective artists can be about their songs. I was the same way. Early on, every lyric, chord, and idea felt untouchable.
But a great record usually requires more than protecting the first version. It takes honest ears, hard choices, and someone objective who can hear the difference between what is personal and what is actually landing.
My job is not to take the song away from you. My job is to help it become the strongest version of itself. And compel people to listen.
SHUT UP AND PUSH RECORD!
If you need a great engineer, I’ll shut up, push record, and make it sound right.
But if you want producer-level ears, I’ll tell you the truth — respectfully — about what is working, what is not landing, and what could make the record hit harder.
The goal is not to turn your music into something generic. The goal is to protect what is real, challenge what is weak, and help the song, performance, production, and mix all serve the same emotional target.
Don't limit yourself by location
Mix City Music is a private professional recording studio built for serious work: vocals, live bands, overdubs, production, mixing, ADR, and voice-over.
But I am not limited to my own studio. If the right move is to work at Mix City Music, we can do that. If your project belongs in another studio, We can work there. If the best path is remote production, mixing, song feedback, or pre-production before you ever step into a room, that can be part of the process too.
The studio is a tool. The real value is knowing what the music needs — and how to get it there.
